Last month I stopped by The Jerk House in Santa Cruz for an early dinner. One of the specials of the day was jerk wild salmon with sides, $25. While the salmon itself was fine, and barely done as I had requested, there was a lot about this plate that was just too careless. The cucumber salad had no salt or seasoning whatsoever. The cabbage stir-fry and plantains were not warm at all. In fact the plantains had started to harden up. The rice and peas had dried out, crusted inedible edges.

Nothing horrible, just disappointing. The two hot sauces were stellar --- watch out for the HOT habanero one --- so there is some potential. Maybe best to stick with the simple and basic here. Service was very friendly and I liked sitting outside on a warm evening.
