Jazz Restaurants - Take Two - Yoshi's

Trying to find good jazz and good food at the same time is a difficult task. I usually look for a restaurant that has jazz, as the food in most jazz clubs is not very good.

However, just last night, I finally got to Yoshi's and can report that the food is far, far better than one would expect given the great jazz you can hear there.

They have an extensive sushi and appetizer menu with a pretty good selection of wine and sake. I tried the crab cakes which were served with a very nice sun-dried tomato pesto, a daikon radish salad, and some Japanese pickles.

Also, since the earlier thread mentioned the Hot Club of SF, I feel obligated to point out that the current act at Yoshi's (through Sunday) is the Bareli Lagrene Gypsy Project. If you like Gypsy Swing, these guys are the real thing. There was a four-minute standing ovation at the end of the 10 o'clock set last night, and almost no conversation out on the floor during the set. This is their first North American tour. Who knows? It may be their only tour. Reinhardt/Grappelli fans should not miss this. And now, back to the food.

Anyone else have some Yoshi's food favorites?
