Jashan - Turnpike Lane [London] - Report

Ate at Jashan on Friday with 6 others, thanks to recommendation on this board from Gordito. This is one of my local Indian places now, and I'm happy to report that I thought the food was very good.

Pappadam were served complimentary with three sauces: spicy lime pickle, tamarind sauce and yogurt/onion/mint. The tamarind sauce was much less sweet than at most restaurants, and tasted homemade. Really good!

We shared quite a variety of dishes. Highlights for me were a grilled whole fish (very good - super buttery (or gheeey), so probably not that healthy, but perfectly cooked and delicious), bhoona gosht (lamb with tomatoes/spices/herbs), eggplant, and cauliflower. Naan was OK but nothing special. Other dishes were all good though, nothing bad in the bunch.

We had only 1 beer and one masala chai, but a filling amount of food for 7 people, plus those drinks, only cost £65. So it's a very good value, since service and atmosphere are quite nice and the food is quite good.

Thanks again for the rec for this place, I'll certainly be back
