One of the best meals we've had in LA in a loooong time. Very friendly service as usual. We had the beet salad as an appetizer-nice fresh slices of beet with delicious Humboldt cheese. Simple, fresh, and just right. For our entrees we had the always wonderful pot roast and this night they had a pork shank special. I wish they would make this a permanent addition to the menu because it was out of this world. Big chunks of perfectly seasoned pork absolutely falling off the bone. We got the purple yams with cream as a side. My wife loves them-I find them a little dense but they are still tasty. Dessert was a sundae for me-cappuccino crunch and vanilla bean ice creams with almonds, served with a dish of chocolate sauce and caramel on the side. Good night Irene! My wife had the angel food cake w/fresh strawberries. They used to serve this with shortbread instead of angel food. Both of us much preferred the shortbread version. All in all, though, a really satisfying, pleasant and delicious meal at Jar.
