Japanese Host Family visiting need recomendations...

mm | Mar 23, 2004 10:58 AM

My host family from Japan is visiting in two weeks. It's their first time in the states. Their son and his wife are here for a year doing a visiting scholar program, so at the dinner will be myself, my host mother and father, their son and his wife. I don't know what kind of food they like since in Japan we always ate at home or at "family restaurants" like Coco's (kind of like japanese Denny's), but I'm thinking someplace American, Italian, or French would be a good bet. I want a place that's not too stuffy and not too expensive. (I might be obligated to pick up the bill and as a student I'm not ready to bankroll Babbo. If there are any nihonjin out there who can help me on the protocol of who should pay the bill, it would be greatly appreciated.) PLEASE help me find a restaurant that would fit the bill! Thanks!!
