January visit

Cindy from Indy | Dec 8, 2002 07:59 PM

My husband and I will be visiting Jan 3-6 with our 15 yr old son, 17 yr old exchange student(from Italy), then joined by 2 friends in the restaurant business one day later. They will stay on until the 7th. We have reservations at Babbo on Sun. We will also go to Bussola. I need help to choose some other spots-one can only eat so many meals! I am interested in Artisanal, Beppe, Veritas, Esca, Peasant, Tasting Room, I Trulli. We want to show our exchange student a wide variety of places. Are there other places that would be "must goes"? Where should my husband and the chefs go after I leave with the boys? I have heard that Le Zinc, Florent, and Blue Ribbon are chef kind of places. Should they go to D'Artagnan? What bakeries should we visit-Sullivan St., Venieros, Bruno?? Is Lombardis a must for the boys? We will probably try to hit Balthazar, Pastis and Gramercy Tavern. I would appreciate any helpful advice. I have only recently discovered this site and it is great. We have not visited NYC in 3 yrs so I am looking forward to trying some new spots. I know this is not the place to ask about accomodations but we have booked at a new Howard Johnson on Houston(great rates, great location for some of the places we want to see-Russ and Daughters!,Soho, etc) Is this a crazy choice? Thanks to any and all who help us!
