Recently stumbled on, quite by accident, a wonderful find right on Jog Road in Lake Worth (it's south of Lake Worth Road/ but north of Malaleuca).
Althea, the owner/chef/waitress, etc. greets you warmly and by the end of your meal you're exchanging hugs and planning your next trip back.
I'm assuming its Jamaican but there are other island foods, as well.
They're open almost every day -- right now closed on Sundays but might switch to being closed on Mondays (and open on Sundays) depending on demand. It's a small homey place.
You will find all your favorites.
We were there for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed her brown stew chicken as well as her oxtail. You can get medium or large portions. Each dish came with a side of peas and rice (this was seasoned and had a few lima beans in it too...) as well as a mix of sauteed cabbages -- several types, plus carrots, etc. that was wonderful as well. She asked if we wanted gravy on our rice which we did and highly recommend you do too.
And suffice it tosay, We ate EVERYTHING, every crumb, on our plates and left ONLY the bones.
The menu includes chicken, beef, shrimp, fish, salads, appetizers, soups.
Some breakfast items like ackee with salt fish; Some hard to find (good) items like curried goat too, along with a number of jerk dishes and deserts. Tell Althea that Julie and Roy sent you.
