Just in from our 3 night getaway. Our first two nights regarded living the fantasy of a stay at Post Ranch Inn. Whereas I had thought of this as a "once in a lifetime" treat, I now feel that this retreat must be repeated. It was that special.
My thanks to JalamaMama are based on her musings of all that is Chowhound'worthy in Los Olivos. Last night we opted to have drinks only, as opposed to the whole shebang at Brothers. Delishus martinis!!! Dinner was at the Ballard Inn, and I cannot emphasize nearly enough how special the dinner was. JalamaMama- - -you really know your food! We began our meal with an order of Truffle infused Turnip soup, and an appetizer sized order of seared scallops on risotto with the Latin flavor of Tomatillo and toasted corn tortilla strips. Second courses consisted of a roasted Quail salad with coconut, and also an order of "New style" Hamachi sashimi. Our entrees were the same- - -superb charred and medium rare slices of Filet of Beef with garlic mashed potatoes and mushrooms, and Broccoli rabe.
The restaurant, the treatment/service, the food, was all world class, and I am still swooning.
It's 8:00 P.M. right now, and we are back in Sherman Oaks- - -Took some of my homemade Lasagne out of the freezer, and while we are having a nice evening with our dog (whom we missed terribly), the Lasagne, cocktails, and peanut brittle sundaes, it's hard to imagine how regally we lived these last 3 nights.
