New Jae's on Boylston

GaryK | Jan 28, 2005 08:55 AM

With the T approaching total dysfunction last night, I gave up and got out at Copley and started walking towards the Huntington Theater (see my post just below). Lo and behold, I spotted a new Jae's Cafe in a basement space next to Restoration Hardware. The space had the usual Jae's decor (big fish tanks, vaguely industrial furniture, a little too dark for my taste). Not very crowded, maybe a combination of just opened and bad weather. Menu similar to Jae's in Brookline, Korean/pan-Asian with a few western-type dishes. I had a very respectable Kalbi, marinated short ribs, sliced thin and grilled, a huge portion that also came with cooked carrots, sugar snaps and pea sprouts, as well as somewhat dry rice and the usual Korean sides, really enough for two to share with an appetizer or two. I thought Jae was focussing on his hotel in Western Mass. but he seems to have returned to a high traffic spot in the Back Bay.
