Jacques Torres (and the Bubby's effect?)

My mother has been wanting to go to Jacques Torres for some time now, and I finally got her there on Saturday. Both the cakes we had were quite good--I particularly liked the pithivier(sp?), which isn't even chocolate at all.

We were there around noon, and boy, was it crowded. Not having been there before, Mom wanted to look around after having cake, which I can't blame her for, but I was ready to run out the door screaming. The other times I've been it's been after work during the week, or early on Saturday, so I was not prepared for this. In particular, the place was full of families with young kids carrying Bubby's balloons. Guess what I'm trying to say is, if you want to be able to actually buy stuff, and enjoy what you're eating, you may want to avoid the post-brunch hours on Saturdays.
