I grew up in South Jersey, near Cherry Hill. I seem to remember my family and I going to some genuine family-owned, old school Italian restaurants. Now, almost 30 years later (and transplanted to Brooklyn) I'm at a bit of a loss. Whenever my wife and I visit, my mother (since re-married to a non-Italian) raves that she has some new and exciting "Italian" restaurant that ends up being a place that would make The Olive Garden cringe.
So, I'm looking for a counter suggestion, a place in South Jersey (or even in Philadelphia) that is the Real Deal: family-owned, authentic dishes, great atmosphere, reasonably friendly prices. The closer to Marlton the better but I'm willing to drive out of my way for good food (who isn't that's posting on this site!).
