We had the chance to sample some of the many Italian restaurants last week near Grove Street in Jersey City.
We especially liked Roman Nose and Razza. Porta, unfortunately, not so much.
Roman Nose -- not sure we like the name -- has terrific food, offering delicious versions of Italian cooking from Rome. Go here for classic Roman pastas and delicious pizza. The place has an exceptional wine list as well. Rare to find Barolos and Brunellos by the glass, yet Roman Nose has them, and at reasonable prices.
Razza is known for its outstanding pizzas, too, and certainly delivers. This would be our first choice for pizza in Jersey City.
Porta, in spite of what they claim about the ovens, delivers only average quality pizzas and pasta. Stick to the other folks, we say.
