Italian hard rolls in MoCo?

lalajane | Dec 6, 201007:01 AM

I am looking for Italian hard rolls. but not *hard* hard rolls. I don't think i can adequately describe this. These rolls you could just at the grocery store where i grew up out West. I don't even think you can find them anymore there.

But, i was wondering if anyone knows about any hard rolls, but that hard really, really hard. These rolls weren't soft like dinner rolls, but not the break you jaw hard rolls you usually see. I guess the were more semi-hard rolls. They had some bite, but didn't require a workout to bite through.

I am being as non-vague as possible, but i am sure i am not doing a very good job. If anyone knows of a place for such rolls , i would appreciate it. Particularly looking for along the 270 corridor of MoCo. I would also look elsewhere if necessary, including NoVa.

growing up, New Years Day was always a giant pot of sauce with meatballs and sausage. And all day (watching football b/c there used to be tons of games that day) you just went in whenever and made yourself a sandwich on these hard rolls. Looking to start up the tradition again.

thanks!
