Italian and French near Navy Pier on Sunday?

Mugs | Apr 29, 200202:29 PM

A Sunday matinee of Shakespeare on Navy Pier followed by supper at a nearby bistro or trattoria makes life down here in Joliet tolerable, but what moderately priced Italian and French places are open Sunday eve? Location along the Navy Pier trolley line would be a plus. Last night my wife and I hit Bistro Zinc. The sauteed halibut special was getting up there at $18.95 but was really good, slight crust yielding to pearl-colored bite-sized chunks, all in a butter-vegetable stock with firm English peas, peasprouts, and ramp. We had no drinks but did have deserts...with tip, $80.

Someone earlier mentioned Coco Pazzo for Sunday night. We've never been to the big C.P., but Coco Pazzo Cafe on St. Clair always pleases us on all counts. I once had a bean salad there that made me see stars.

Thank you to all who replied re: SW side falafel and Pulaski Rd. pizza.
