A friend, married to a Florentine, has decided to host an Epiphany Night dinner. I said I'd bring a dish, remembering something I'd read in last year's NY Mag about some kind of pizza-like thing made specially for Epiphany. Now, of course, I can't remember the name, nor can I find it on NY Mag's website. So, fine, I'll make a dessert instead...but I can't really find much info on recipes! There's cenci, which I guess I could make, but am not loving the sound of, also some chocolate log which has dried fruits (the fruitcake kind, which i hate but could just leave out), but I can't stand raisins and chocolate, nor chocolate and citrus (call me crazy!). Anyway, I thought maybe I could make a torta di nonna? Again, Miss Picky Pants here isn't a fan of pinoli nuts. Gee, I am impossible. But at least I am aware of that.
So, does anyone have any ideas for desserts that are not any of the above?
I guess, worst case, I can call my friend and tell her I'm bringing something savory...which is OK, too.
