ISO thinner coating for chocolate-covered banana slices

I did a decent job of replicating Trader Joe's by freezing banana slices with toothpicks in them, then twirling them in melted dark chocolate from a TJ pound plus bar. However, I would like a thinner chocolate layer. What's the best way? I have virgin coconut oil and like the flavor it adds to chocolate. These slices are kept frozen so VCO's temperature sensitivity is a non-issue. Would this work, or is there a better ingredient? Hershey's syrup, maybe? Or that stuff that makes a chocolate shell on ice cream cones? I've never had the latter. Does it taste good enough to use it alone, not combining it with the TJ's bar?
