Some friends are coming into town this weekend and requested Thai as their dinner of choice. I thought I'd read good things about Pat Pong in the East Village, but it seems a bit small...too small for a party of 6? I'd already made a reservation for 4 when I thought that's how many we'd be...now that we're six I'm not sure.
We're a mixed group--some have never met, others haven't seen each other in some time, so I'm looking for a place that's mellow and relaxing with decent to excellent food and a bar/good wine list. I've been to Wondee Siam, but the original one (I think, it was a few years ago) and though the food was great the atmosphere isn't what I'm looking for. Not sure the group is willing to trek out to sripaphai (sp?). Any other ideas? The Elephant, maybe?
Any suggestions much appreciated. I'd like to keep it in Manhattan, though I guess we'd travel within...maybe keep it below midtown. Downtown preferred.
Thanks in advance!
