Hello SFBA Hounds! It's been four years but I'm finally headed back to San Francisco soon. I have a decentish plan for dinners I think -- Royal Feast, La Folie, La Ciccia, Vientian, Hawker Fare -- and lunches are looking good too -- Sentinel, Poc Chuc, Burmese Kitchen, Tony's, Aina, Esan Classic, Lers Ros T'loin all in the running. What I'm hoping for is suggestions on where to get an outstanding pozole verde in the East Bay, ideally Oakland-ish, on a Sunday.
I'm also coming up a bit shy in the great happy hours department. Mission Bowling Club for a burger must happen, and we're thinking Fieldwork or The Rare Barrel for our Sunday East Bay foray. I love savoury-leaning cocktails while the SO is more of a hazy IPA guy. We gather this style is not huge in SF though. Also need tasty food at HH, of course ;-).
We have spent a fair bit of time in the past investigating the eats scene so don't feel the need to hit anywhere fusiony, "trendy" or higher end (apart from La Folie which will be a celebratory dinner) and are more interested in mom-and-pop shops, especially for Mexican fare.
