ISO a cookie around Union Square

Pei | Jan 26, 201109:16 AM

I'm laid up with some kind of super flu. I haven't eaten anything but fruit and fluids in over a day, and all I want is a really good cookie. You know, a big chewy chocolate chip cookie. Basic flavors, reminds you of childhood, all that jazz.

But where? Union Square seems devoid of bakeries. Used to be I could get Tom's or Delessio in the basement of Macy's, but that option's gone. Madeleine doesn't really do cookies--am I wrong? I had a black and white from David's a few weeks ago. Stale, and it set me back $4. I was not a happy camper. Is there a little shop or restaurant somewhere that happens to have great cookies? Heck, great cake will do in a pinch.

Save me from the last resort: Mrs. Field's on Sutter.
