Irksome trait of mainline retailers

i pledge never again to buy anything I will possibly want to match from Williams Sonoma or Pottery Barn. They introduce some "timeless" line of flatware, glasses, or whatever. When a spoon disappears or a glass breaks you head to the store only to be told, "you are so last year. Now we are pushing THIS. If you want your stuff to match we will sell you a dozen settings.". Thankfully I have things I can match at restaurant supply stores and my cookware is intentionally a hodge podge. This rant was prompted by a thread on LC, lamenting the discontinuation of some beloved color.
