We had a great trip, found some fun and tasty places to dine and drank a lot of Guinness. It is better over there. Here are our favorites, in approximate order: The first three are about on a par with each other - and I differ slightly in my rankings than my DH, who favors Max's for his oyster appetizer and mussel dinner.
Dingle: Half Door - nice atmosphere, great service, good rack of lamb. DH ordered salmon - good. a bit pricey, but worth it.
Kinsale: Max's Wine bar - I had the steak w/ blue cheese, rich and tasty, DH had oysters/mussels - about the same price wise as the Half Door.
Kenmare: Horseshoe - I had chicken in mushroom sauce, DH had monkfish (I liked mine better than he liked his)About the same price as half door
Cashel: The Cellar @ Bailey's Guesthouse - casual, very tasty, we did both lunch and dinner here. Not as expensive as the others, but not pub grub cheap either.
Adare: Adare Manor - beautiful dining room. extremely expensive. neither food nor service were good. service inconsistent, there when you didn't need them, gone when you did. my steak was way over done. the kitchen did not execute well that night, and the manager actually rolled his eyes when I complained about my steak. I actually saw another eye-rolling incident with another waiter at another table - service with attitude.. and this one cost more than all the others combined. Definitely not worth it.
Doolin: Gus O'Connor's Pub- pub grub, stay for the music and guinness! inexpensive. crusty service.
Let me know if you have any questions!
