International brasil cafe - port chester

ok, first, I can never remember the exact name of the place, even though I've been there a bunch of times. But I'm talking about the one on adee street, between main and king. (not Brasil Cafe on Main).

I went there today after having not been there for a few years. Not much has changed, but thought I'd give a recent report. Salad bar isn't too bad - a few items, rice and beans, nice salads, a salt-cod salad and some meat dishes that I forgot to pay attention too. They also have some churrascarria style meats behind the counter. I got skirt steak, chicken legs, top sirloin and sausage.

The cost for bbq and salad is $5.99 a pound. BBQ only is $3,99 a pound.

As I remember them, the meats were ok. The one that was very good was the sirloin. Good flavor, medium rare and tender. The sausage was pretty good too. But the skirt steak was overly salty and overcooked. The chicken had very nice flavor, but was far overcooked.

Frankly, though, I was fairly happily pleased, as I don't expect much from places like this where the meat is so cheap and the turnover of the meats isn't as high as it needs to be to get perfectly cooked meat. Next time I need to try the short ribs, shell steak, and chicken liver, but didn't have enough stomach room today...

My total meal, with a can of guarana was $8. Not bad, particularly considering I ate too much.

So, like I said, it satisfies for a lunch craving, but by no means great brazilian bbq...

on a side note, does anyone know if they ever serve feijoada there? I know some places only have it on certain days of the week... (though I think Pantanal has it every day).
