A native New Yorker who's been away from 20 years, and am in town for 5 days, culminating in seeing Bruce Springsteen on Broadway on Halloween. Looking for interesting, only in New York dining experiences. I live in Southern California; no shortage of good restaurants, but looking for quintessentially NY experiences. Anything from hot dogs to fine dining to ethnic, any of the boroughs fine as long as I can get there by public transportation. Great NY Italian would be great, as would dim sum/chinese, but everything's fair game.
Initial thoughts based on not much research (feel free to dispute)..... Du's Donuts, Katz's, Per Se salon for lunch, Korean in Flushing (where). Not married to any, but gives a flavor of what I'm looking for.
All help appreciated.
