interesting, ironic, & just blame disturbing...

has any one noticed that Food Network has started the week going crazy about the Kentucky Derby but they keep showing clips fr/ Lexington & Keeneland? One of the shows I watched was filmed at the Keeneland kitchen yet they mentioned burgoo & the hot brown. First of all the race is run at Churchill Downs in Louisville and not at Keeneland in Lexington. Secondly, burgoo is a Western/Southern Kentucky treat and although quite popular in Lexington is not
considered a Louisville staple. Thirdly, why would he go to Lexington to find out about the "hot brown" which was invented in the Brown Hotel in Louisville? Do these people have any clue whatsoever?

To add to the irony of the week, Emeril invites Booker Noe onto his show about Kentucky & bourbon and talks w/ him about the various bourbons made by Jim Beam yet he obviously uses Maker's Mark--NOT A JIM BEAM product--in all of his cooking. Now I am a MM fan fr/ the word go & have no problem w/ Emeril using "Kentucky Champagne" in his cooking & even appreciate it but it was a serious slap in the face of Noe & his son sitting at the counter for Emeril to cook w/ something other than a Jim Beam product.

Sorry, I hope this is not in the wrong place & if Jim wants to move it I understand but I thought I would "vent" about something "Southern".
