since the original post 2 weeks back, I haven't seen any other new posts about this place. but this place is very good, acutually the most authentic japanese rice ball you can get in NY.
they are very serious about makeing rice ball - useing
specially filtered water for cooking rice, salt is 100% natural sea salt, etc - .
the menu is pretty big, 22 kinds of rice ball.a half of these are traditional side - like, japanese salty plum, salmon, cod roe, dried bonito flake, shrimp tempura( a.k.a. Ten musu )for the filling - these are
rapped in hight quality seaweed paper(nori).
the other half of the menu is " creative " side which
is made for especially for non-japanese people.the
menus are - the prosciutto/pastrami rapped rice,
the shrimp pop corn w hot sauce on rice rapped in lettuce,the bbq beef on rice rapped w lettuce, etc...
and the recipes for these non-traditional rice balls
are created by chef Ono (yes, Sono's Ono ), he especially made the recipes for this place.
so now you know, it's not just a regular rice ball, it's something very special.
they only make a small batch, so rice balls are always
very fresh, sometimes still hot.
this place makes very good japanese style desserts
too.eveything is homemade, like green tea soft ice cream (this is VERY VERY good!! DON'T forget!!!),
green tea mousse, black sesame panna cotta.
