Do Any Indian Restaurants Use REAL Ghee Anymore?

epicure-us | Aug 11, 2003 08:45 PM

The ghee used in Indian restaurants is usually the immitation stuff these days, not the type made from clarified butter. I will sometimes order a dosa cooked in butter but other than that, it tastes like most Indian Food is indeed cooked in a vegetable oil or fake ghee. Perhaps some of the upscale places use real ghee? My concern about this has to do with taste, but it also has to do with health issues and my desire to avoid transfats.

Thanks everyone.
