Indian in Albany area

My family's favorite Indian place has been Sabna(sp?) which was located in a Quality (Comfort?) Inn in Rotterdam. Lousy location but good food and excellent friendly service. We stopped there two weekends ago and it said closed for renovation, will reopen soon as Karavelli.

Does anyone know if this new Karavelli is related to the Karavelli in Latham? In spite of the rave reviews the Latham Karavelli gets, my family has been disappointed on both of our visits. Could it be because we went for the buffet rather than ordering off the menu? We were disappointed by the food and especially the service.

At Karavelli, even though it was a Sunday afternoon and the place was not busy, they seemed annoyed that we had brought a child. We have a very well behaved 6-year old son who *loves* indian food and is also fascinated by it. He only wants to go to buffets because that way he can try lots of different things. He likes to know all about the food and about how to say things in "Indian". At Karavelli he was ignored. At Sabna the wait staff were happy to see his interest in their cuisine and culture. Although busy, they took the time to explain things to him and even brought him out extra tidbits from the kitchen to try. But now they're gone. I presume the location just didn't get enough business.
