Not to pick on Fore Street, but I found it incredibly awkward that we had to settle our bar tab first before we were seated for dinner - it would have been much more gracious if they had carried our tab forward to our table. Many fine restaurants require guests to pay up first, but I find the policy inconvenient. How do you folks feel about this?
BY the way, I didn't order any more drinks that night for dinner because, symbolically, my bar tab had already been "closed" - so I just stuck to bottled water. In effect, they discouraged further wine/bar sales by making me pay before the evening had even begun.
