Incanto in SF : Report

oscarm | Mar 19, 2007 05:02 PM

Went to Incanto last night because my new position at work has me working Sundays from now on, so I decided I'd treat myself.

Started off with the antipasto meat platter and it was delicious. Especially fond of the pate and the salami, but really everything else was good. Salty was the key here, but I love salt, so no problems there. My girlfriend and I ordered a glass of the Lagrein each and it was a nice pairing to the antipasto.

My girlfriend had the pasta with pork ragu which was great, I had to steal a bit of heres, while I opted for the pork shoulder with red beans which was also very good. I had a glass of wine which I can't remember the name of, had a German sounding name, was 10.50 a glass, but I will definitely try to get myself a bottle in the future.

For dessert we went for the pistachio gelato paired with a Dindarello wine, I believe that was the name of it, and this really shone. My girlfriend called the wine like a drink reserved for gods, it was like drinking a honey-wine. Amazing !

On the way home, the g/f and I were buzzing from such an amazing meal. The total came out to 100 dollars, not including tip.I thought this was quite reasonale considering we ordered appetizers, dessert and 4 glasses of wine.

I have not been to Oliveto's but my girlfriend says Incanto is superior. Will have to go myself to see the differences. I would recommend this culinary gem to anyone who wants Italian, or just simply a memorable dining experience.
