Ideas for Buckwheat Groats (aka Kasha)?

yumfactr | Mar 17, 201508:31 PM     33

Hi Everyone!

So I am looking for ideas to flavor roasted kasha. Currently I buy roasted kasha in bulk at WF. I take a cup of it, mix it with a beaten egg, and then fry it a bit in a pan, breaking up the bits. Then 2 cups of water are added and a pinch of salt and it cooks for 15 minutes.

It is boring. It is dry. It is tasteless.

Adding sauteed onions helps. Or goat cheese. But still...not so stellar.

Any ideas for spices? Flavors? Anything? Edited to add I was thinking to make it like a pilaf? Or to add bits of lamb to it as a flavor and a bit of protein...

I like the idea, it's super healthy, and filling, and it would be nice to add it to my rotation of grains...but it would also be nice if it tasted like something...better... :)

Thanks!
