I could have sworn someone mentioned this place on chowhound before, but search as I might (with engine and manually) I can't find the thread which inspired me to try this plain little storefront chinese restaurant. We were heading to Noodle Chu, when I felt inspired to find a place I thought someone on this board told me about. Maybe it was some kind of psychic experience...

The first time we went here it was BUSY! We sat at our little table for two and watched, amused, as they dealt with a party of ~35 Chinese tourists (in a place that seats 70 at the most). It must have been a prearranged menu, cause that crowd was in and out in about 35 minutes! But I digress...

The menu has all the standards, but what will intrigue the chowhounds are all the home style casseroles, home made noodles & noodle soups, and Taiwanese specialties, lots of options with all sorts of inards, etc. I have to admit, I'm not into tripe and its ilk, but the versions of the home style dishes with chicken or beef have all been fabulous. Last time we had the "Little Bit of Everything Soup with Homemade Noodles". The noodles are thick and squat, unlike any kind of noodles we've had at a chinese rest., more like elongated and flattened spaetzle? not chowfun.

A favorite dish is Basil Beef (on the specials board), it tastes vaguely thai inspired - has Taiwanese cuisine been influenced by southeast asian flavors since the split with mainland China?

Here's the address: 1551 Rt. 45 East, Parsippany.
Go if only for the chicken, spinach & tofu soup.
