I have been hearing about this little spot at the corner of Sunset and Laurel for a while now but I tend to avoid most restaraunts on Sunset. This place claims to be a health conscious (code for tasteless and crappy) chinese/Hunan restaurant. Well, in addition to being healthy, it was OUTSTANDING.
Fresh ingredients, Nice portions (enough for left overs), reasonably priced (even better at lunch).
The actual place leaves a little to be desired as it is a little hole in the wall in that little strip mall but the staff is super friendly and they aim to please.
It seems like they use brocolli in nearly all their dishes but I didn't mind because they cooked it perfectly, firm but not undercooked. When you ask for garlic, they actually cut razor thin slices of garlic clove and put in the dish. We had chicken, beef and shrimp. I am pleased to report that they use real beef and not that mystery meat that you get at some chinese places. The egg roll was totally average. Great texture but totally average ingredients inside (steamed flavorless vegetables)
Honestly can't wait to go back.
