I humidified our condo by boiling water in a Dutch oven every day this winter......

Now I need to scrub the gunk (calcified minerals, I think) off the inside of this darn DO! I've been using Bar Keepers Friend and elbow grease, but at the rate I'm going it will take weeks to clean this pan up. It's a good pan, and I would like to resurrect it. Any suggestions? Would boiling a vinegar/water solution in it help? Or do I need something stronger?

p.s. If you are wondering what kind of nutcase uses this method instead of just getting a humidifyer, I will plead my case by stating that I was afraid I would not clean a humidifier often enough and I did not want a dirty humidifyer spewing mold and other nasty stuff into the air...
