Hugo's Tacos -- please explain the white beans!

I'm enjoying Hugo's Tacos quite a bit, even though the prices are a little high. But what's with the white beans that they serve? I've never seen them at a Mexican restaurant. They're more like italian cannelini beans. And actually they're quite flavorless. They sort of wreck the otherwise decent nachos. So what gives? Are these white beans authentic to Mexico in any way?
