the posting below got me thinking about howards. have probably passed my there a billion times, always kind of intrigued by the sign, but never made the leap.
anyways, today was the day. went inside ordered a burger w/ avocado (don't eat bacon, so didn't have that). out came the burger on a pretty, squishy bun. the tastes combined pretty well, definitely not the best burger on the planet. but after eating one i did get the craving to order another one after a couple minutes. but of course refrained. the burger itself was well-seasoned and salted, and it didn't tasted like brittle cardboard like other burgers out there. the burger was nice in a dirty old-fashioned coffee shop kind of way, save for the california addition of some avocado slices to the whole endeavor. (my fave in the avocado burger category goes to Westwood Burger w/ their great California burger and also some delciously grease-y and excessively great gyros).
for dessert, clementine's banana cream pie. which if you haven't tried it before it's great. nice softly whipped barely sugared whipped cream, and the banana custard also lightly sweet, w/ a nice graham cracker crust. good stuff. forget the other baked goods. this is where it's at. except maybe for the chocolate frosting yellow cupcakes, which are oh so good. (as a side note, anyone know what happened to their puddings esp. the outrageously good butterscotch pudding, their best dessert ever, which i've only had once in the first year or so that clementine was open).
