A customer suggested lunching at the House of Thai in Beavercreek.
As I approached the location, I realized that it is located on the service
drive of a strip mall ... that happens to have once been the scene of
another of my "romantic crimes" from the early 1980's. But that's
I am VERY happy with the food and spice level. I would have preferred
the temps to be a bit higher. Low-ish temps across the board; dumpling,
soup, entree & tea.
I missed breakfast. The customer called to apologize that they were
delayed ~25 minutes. I was starving ... so I ordered two steamed
dumplings as an appetizer. They were plump and very tasty. A very
nice combination of flavors. I nibbled at them and enjoyed a bit of
green tea while waiting for my guests to arrive. It also gave me a
chance to use their free WiFi to catch-up on email. The staff had no
trouble whatsoever providing the WPA2 encryption key needed to use
Once the customers arrived, the food followed shortly. The staff
understands that lunch time diners are typically on a schedule.
Service was prompt, knowledgeable and unobtrusive.
The flavors in the soup were complex and nicely layered. I only
wish it had been a tad warmer.
The Penang Curry w/chicken was my choice of entree. It earns
another "very good." Being my first visit and not seeking punishment,
I ordered a spice level of two/medium ... and it was medium ... a bit
less than what most Thai restaurants in Detroit consider 'medium.'
I only wish it had been a tad warmer. On my next visit, I'm comfortable
with ordering a three.
Looking at their website, I notice that they will be opening another location
in Miamisburg. Hurray! (My corp/contract hotel is in Miamisburg.)
