Why is my house ruining bread for me? :C

alikaprincess | May 16, 201810:48 AM     12

I recently moved and this is my second experience of moldy bread in the last few months. In my previous apartment I don't think I ever saw a mold spore on a piece of bread in 10 years. I left nice sourdough loafs and baguettes on counters for weeks and they never molded; they got stale but never mold. This new house, however, must be trying to be gluten-free. On Sunday (it's Wed now) I bought a sealed, airtight bag of telera rolls (not the regular twist-tie bag bread, this is machine sealed bread where the packaging has to be ripped open like a bag of chips). I left the rolls on the counter Sunday night and went to go eat them today and they're frickin blue! This is the second time some good bread I've left on the counter has molded in a matter of days and I hate wasting food, time, and money. I don't like to put good bread in the fridge since it changes the texture so what's going on? And how could bread in a sealed bag get moldy like that in 2 days? I could see if it was a regular bag or I had opened it but it doesn't make sense to me. Does the house have a moisture issue? Do I need a dehumidifier? I'm located in Union City (bay area, CA) in a 1 story house where as previously I was in a 4th floor walkup in Oakland. Was it drier up there? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
