Drove into the City to dine at one of our fans, House of Prime Rib. We dined at our favorite prime rib restaurant tonight, House of Prime Rib. We were able to walk in when they opened with no reservation, enjoy a glass of wine and we were seated within 30 minutes. The meal was good as usual, but the prices have increased significantly, now $40 a plate; 2 years ago it was $27. As much as I enjoy prime rib, mashed potatoes, and fixings, I think $40 is a little steep for meat, potatoes, and creamed spinach. There are too many other wonderful fine dining options in San Francisco at that price. My end cut was lukewarm, and disappointing; however, this is not the norm, their prime rib is usually so flavorful and tender. I was too hungry at that point to order a new piece, and our server had disappeared anyway. We both left in a food coma, entirely our fault for eating everything on our plate, plus all of that piping hot sourdough bread. Next time, we'll split the meat and order sides for a very filling, and satisfying dining experience.
