The House of Catfish & Ribs, Daly City

Stopped by my bro's place and snacked on the remains of his dinner from The House of Catfish & Ribs. The pork ribs are utterly forgettable with the mushy parboiled texture, dried out on the big ends and not much smoky character. The sweet and spicy sauce, available in medium and hot, helps somewhat but really not interesting enough to be worth eating. Fried catfish is ok (William says McKnights or Uncle Frank's in E Palo Alto is better). Collard greens are made from fresh greens but too sugary.

Why am I bothering to type this up? Well, the cornbread muffin is lovely with a light texture, like a corn-flavored sweet cupcake. And, we like the peach cobbler very much, nicely spiced and short crust that holds its texture in the wet fruit filling.

FWIW, my bro says that Uncle Frank's has added fried oysters that he likes very much. He also recommends the fried prawns with a very light and crisp batter.
