On our recent trip to Hot Springs we had some fabulous meals and some not so great ones too. The highest praise for the chef at Pompeii on Central Avenue for grilled lamb chops with a dried cherry glaze and the creamy orzo with parmesan, mushrooms and bacon. The homebaked bread served with tapenade and the squash soup were excellant also. My husband raved about his grilled tuna with wasabi. Another fav was Cafe 1217 on Malvern for lunch and carryout. The interesting sandwich combinations, the tomato soup, and unique salads such as maple cranberry chicken left us with wishing we had more time. The desserts change often and the blueberry orange custard pie & raisin pie was great. The almond cream cake and peanut butter bar cookie was delicious.
McClard's was packed and we enjoyed the ribs and the beef sandwich although the sauce was okay.
The Brauhaus beer was great but German food should be FLAVORFULL not boring and slopped on a plate.
The Brick House Grill also appealed to us from the basic sandwich/steak/burger menu. Another waste of time and money. The Pancake House for breakfast was another highlight- good buckwheat cakes and country ham and fresh squeezed oj.
