The first time I tried hot & sour, I fell in love with it. I could easily eat it every single day if only I could make it myself. The dozens of recipes I've tried range from 'meh' to inedible. I'm not looking for the most authentic wood ear & lily bud concoction. I'm searching for a dark, rich broth with a slightly sweet undertone. My local restaurant thankfully makes a version that is delicious. The owner told me he uses light & dark Kikkoman soy sauces & homemade chicken broth. I know these soups use cornstarch but my attempts result in a cloudy broth whereas the restaurants' is quite clear. The dark soup photo is what I'm looking for. The yellow tinted soup is what I am NOT wanting. Can anyone help? I have been searching for years & have gotten nowhere.
