Hot Roast Beef Sandwiches

TJ | Sep 11, 2001 12:23 AM

Growing up on the North Shore of Boston, there were dozens "hot roast beef" sandwich shops often operated by Greek families. Chick's (Ipswich), Nick's (Beverly) Bill&Bob's (Salem), and numerous others with equally creative names. Hot, thinly sliced roast beef was piled on hamburger buns and best served with just salt and pepper, but was occassionally ruined by extras like bad cheese and barbecue sauce. Onion rings were the side of choice. Anybody know of any establishments like these around New York? (If anyone suggests the Arby's chain, I'll kill myself)
