If you're not glued to the tv on Monday night, watching "24", you could be gleefully knoshing on hot chocolate chip cookies at the Hotel Rex - we went last night to Heather Gold's "I look like an Egg but I identify as a Cookie". Sidesplittingly Sweet. We laughed. We ate cookies. We drank White Russians. What a comfy bar at the Hotel Rex...and the show, if I had a daughter...she should be as smart as this Heather! and with a sense of humor, too. You get recipes in the Program for coffee cake, Aunt Sandy's Caramel Chocolate Squares, Apple Crisp, Harissa, Ginger Snaps, Honey Cake, George Morrone's Butterscotch Pudding, Lewis Rossman's Cheesecake, and Double Chocolate Cookies. A little of this, a little of that - Berkeley, spirial dances, Niagara Falls, Canada, law school, 7th grade, lesbian kisses, and always baking. You stir the bowl, and at the end of the show there's raw cookie dough for those so inclined and cookies, cookies, cookies. The show is extended through April on Sundays and Mondays and, the cookies are really good, buttery with not-too-many chocolate chips but plenty of pecans!
