Sorry to have taken so long but here is the latest on the proposed get-together at the Hopleaf. Since several have expressed interest and no other plans have come forth, it looks like maybe well go ahead and do it.
I spoke with Michael, owner of the Hopleaf, last night and he said theyd be happy to have us eat out takeout Cambodian-Laotian-Thai-Vietnamese feast there. Obviously it would be best to choose a time when they are least crowded, probably late afternoon/early evening on a Saturday or Sunday.
How about Saturday, May 18 at 4:30pm?
On that day Michael will be there to help us choose beers (he will be away the next week). Im afraid I may have insulted his bar when earlier I said they have 50 Belgians. There are at least 85 different bottled Belgian beers and well over a hundred when you include draft beers and Belgian-style brews made in other countries. There are plenty of non-Belgian beers and a small but respectable whiskey selection.
If there are major objections to the date, please post them here and we can try to adjust. Lets try to settle on date and time by next Tuesday (May 14, 5pm). It would be a good idea to get some idea of how many people there will be (if too many, we might have to go somewhere else). Just email me directly (no need to clutter the board) and let me know how many will be coming on the 18th and if youd be willing to drive to pick up food. If we need to change the date well go through this again.
Well worry about food details later but I might ask the Teevy people if theyd be willing to make a special dish or two. If theres some Cambodian food youve had a hankerin for, let me know, heres your chance.
