Hong Kong Eatery - Good And Bad News?

richchud | Oct 2, 2004 09:42 PM

Well, I haven't been to Chinatown for a while but I occasionally go to Hong Kong Eatery for dinner. I heard from this board that it was closed and didn't hear anything about it opening again. I still haven't gone by to see if it is opened now. Therefore, I'm basing the following on the assumption that it is still closed.

The possible bad news is that I believe it is closed permanently as the owners of Hong Kong Eatery and Kam Leung (now Bao Bao Bakery) are related and the reason for Kam Leung closing was because they couldn't afford a new lease for that location. This leads me to believe that Hong Kong Eatery was also in the same boat. I'm hoping this is not true and that they will reopen soon if they haven't done so already.

The possible good news is that I saw a Hong Kong Eatery (hasn't opened yet) on Hancock St. in Quincy between the Super 88 and Kam Man Market. From the little description I saw on the sign, it looks to have the same items as the one in Boston. Either they are moving from Chinatown to Quincy or they are opening a second location and remodelling the first one.
