Home cooking lesson and homestay in France

Hi!

My boyfriend and I are driving through France in May (heading south from the UK towards Italy, and then back across to Spain). I would love to have a few days of home cooking lessons, but cannot afford the pricey cookery courses by expert chefs I've seen recommended here. Plus I'm looking for very introductory lessons in choosing produce in a market, basic preparation, and simple, home-style recipes using inexpensive ingredients. My French is basic but improving (and that is another motivation for our trip to France).

Ideally we'd be looking for a homestay or to stay in a cheap B&B nearby. I was thinking that there might be a way to find someone who has retired or is a housewife, who might be able to find some time to spare and not charge ridiculous prices.

Any suggestions welcome!

Thanks,

Michelle
