Holiday Dinner for a Dozen (or so)

partyfoodie | Nov 26, 201811:10 AM     3

I am having a dozen or so family for a holiday get-together dinner and I don't have a large enough dining area to seat a dozen people! For that matter, I don't have one room that will hold everyone. How to handle this???? Seated dining in two rooms?

Have a food serving table and then have some table space for the older folks but maybe not everyone would have to sit? Is that horribly wrong?

Any suggestions for some special dishes that seem party-like and elegant that don't require a knife and cutting, and could be enjoyed while either standing or with plate in lap?

Open to all suggestions. Many thanks!!!
