I'm beating this horse. After many very good to excellent meals at Bouley, then Bouley Bakery over the years, I've joined the Bad Bouley Club.

[Disclaimer: on our trip to NYC, we had many great and very good meals at Molyvos, Montrachet, Peter Luger, Frank, S.E.A., Union Square Cafe.....]

Four friends went to Bouley and ordered the tasting menu and matching wine coures. Oh yeah, they were never asked if they wanted a drink before ordering. Hm, bread is bland, seems a day old.

First course is here, wine poured for 3: "I also ordered the wine." Snapped: "I'll double check if that's correct." Eventually, seems I can have the wine anyway even though my order wasn't heard, or I forgot to order, whichever.

I'll cut to the chase: minute portions even for a tasting menu. Very small wine pourings even for a tasting menu. Incompetent and rude service -- hit me 3 times taking away dishes; knocked over a lamp at the next table; overcharged the next table for wine; never asked if we wanted drinks, coffee, tea; never asked how our meal was; described substitute dishes incorrectly; etc. etc. etc.

Not at those prices. Too many other choices.
