High Park Spicy House (Junction) - Review

LovesToEat | Jul 9, 2007 07:08 AM

Hubby had a hankering for Indian on Friday night so we decided to check out a new place in the Junction called High Park Spicy House (3020 Dundas West). We had discovered it over Canada Day weekend when we were strolling in the 'hood. Depite the spelling mistake ridden take out menu that I had picked up, we still decided to head there for dinner on Friday evening.

The decor of the restaurant is simple and clean. Service was friendly and attentive.

We ordered the vegetable pekoras to start, Haandi Chicken and Mattar Paneer Masala. Rice and nan were NOT included with the main dishes (booo, hiss). We got 5 jumbo, fresh tasting veggie pekoras which were excellent with the accompanying tamarind sauce. Main dishes chicken and paneer were just alright...I've definitely had better elsewhere and I was still a bit miffed that we had to order rice and nan seperately. The nan, however, was extremely fresh and tasty and possibly the best part of the meal. We skipped dessert...dinner for two came to $40 with tax and tip (no alcohol).

For Indian food in the Junction, I'd recommend North of Bombay instead. High Park Spicy house was just okay and we won't be scrambling to return any time soon.
