H&H Bagels at Barney Greengrass

Jane | Dec 26, 200212:40 PM     14

I'm a SF Hound who will be in LA next week. My in-laws are reluctant Northern California transplants from New York who loathe the bagels here. I read that Barney Greengrass flies H&H bagels in from New York on most days and I'm wondering if anyone can give me the scoop. Basically, I need to know if they would be a worthy offering to the in-laws. From their web site it appears that they are 'real' New York bagels. Are they fresh? They'll have to withstand a 6 hour drive, but I'm guessing that isn't a huge problem. Is the counter service decent? Is it possible to purchase several dozen bagels or is an advance order necessary. Thank you very much for any information you can provide.
